I'm Jennifer, a Canadian ESL teacher.
This blog includes short videos I used with ESL learner here in Canada and later, online. I started it in 2010 when I was hired on contract at the Newcomer Centre of Peel in Mississauga as a Supply Instructor for EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and LINC classes. I covered a LINC 5 class for two weeks and brought in short video clips with transcripts, exercises and discussion questions for a group of approximately 25 learners from various linguistic backgrounds. The NCP had a new multimedia centre at the time that I was able to use to show videos to an entire group. These students were mostly newly arrived highly-skilled professionals and they enjoyed working with authentic materials. Even a clip as short as 55 seconds can provide a lot of learning value.
